BIG ENERGY SAVING WEEK – 5 Top Tips On Saving Energy From Pennine
You may not know that next week is officially Big Energy Saving Week in the UK with the annual national campaign running from 21st – 27th January.
It was a concept dreamed up by Citizens Advice a few years ago to help people cut their energy bills and get all the financial support they are entitled to at a time when there’s an alarming number of families living in fuel poverty.
How are your energy bills at the moment? If they’re costlier than you would like, put these 5 energy saving tips of Pennine’s into practice to bring them down…
-
Find a cheaper energy deal
Are you one of the nine million householders that has remained on the same energy deal for the past six years and missed out on £1,500 because of it? Research conducted by the Energy Saving Trust discovered this.
If it’s been some time since you last switched supplier or you’ve never switched, visit a comparison site and search for a more affordable energy package – it is incredibly easy to do and it could save you a lot of money.
-
Have your boiler serviced
It is important to have your boiler serviced regularly (preferably in the summer) by a qualified engineer as they can identify any potential faults before they get worse and can also check that it is running as efficiently as possible.
A particularly old boiler should be replaced for a modern efficient boiler as the long-term savings will be significant. Try not to be put off by the cost of a new boiler as you’ll easily recoup the cost through these savings.
-
Fit energy efficient windows & doors
For a boiler to keep the inside of your home warm you also need windows and doors that provide sufficient insulation. It’s no good if they let cold air in easily and fail to retain the heat produced by your boiler.
Pennine has a superb range of replacement windows and doors with exceptionally high energy ratings that promise to keep the cold out and keep warm air in. Home living will feel so much cosier once they’re fitted.
-
No more overcharging your devices
We’re always charging something in the house and it’s usually our phone, laptop or tablet. When any of these devices are on charge you need to keep your eye on them as overcharging them costs you money.
As soon as the battery level hits 100% unplug the charger as energy will still be consumed and you will also be draining the battery and shortening its lifespan.
-
Only the boil the kettle once
A kettle doesn’t need to be warmed up 10 minutes before you fancy a cup of tea or coffee and then boiled again at the moment you’re ready to pour the hot water out.
Boiling a full kettle costs around 2.5p, so it should only be boiled as and when you’re ready for a cuppa.
Book an appointment to find out how else Pennine can end your energy woes and turn your home into an energy efficient space.
