How To Give Your Conservatory A 21st Century Update

When you have resided in your house for a long time, there comes a point when certain rooms need updating, and your conservatory is no exception to that.

It may be the fault of a tired conservatory interior that you no longer use your extended space as often as you used to, but that can all be changed by modernising its interior to reignite its old spark and make it feel new again.

Minor or major adjustments, big or small budget, there’s a pretty much endless list of things you can do to successfully update your old conservatory, starting with swapping your ageing roof for a revolutionary replacement…

Fit a solid roof

You could argue that replacing your old glass or polycarbonate roof for a solid roof is the best upgrade you can make for a series of reasons.

It will put a permanent end to the extension feeling ridiculously cold in winter and stifling hot in summer, keeping it perfectly insulated throughout the entire year.

It’s also far more pleasant to look at. Solid roofing systems use lightweight slates / tiles that look amazingly similar to traditional slates / tiles and you can have them coloured matched to the slates / tiles on the roof of your house.

The switching of roofing systems can be done really quickly, so you won’t be waiting long to enjoy the many benefits brought by a solid roof.

Integrate bi-folding doors

It is also possible to integrate patio doors and French doors into most existing conservatories, but bi-folding doors are a hot product right now and you only have to see and watch them in action to understand why.

The fitting of bi-folding doors will help you bring the outdoors, indoors and as they can be fully folded open, you can establish a lovely unrestricted passage to your garden.

With slender aluminium frames and vast pieces of glass inside of them, you get a vast amount of natural light coming through which will leave the inside of your extension feeling brighter than it’s ever been and more spacious as a consequence. Just check if you need permission to do it first!

Introduce a new, one-colour scheme

Don’t leave the inside of your conservatory looking blank and uninspired. Give it some colour and energy with some vibrant blinds, cushions, rugs etc.

Green would be a good colour choice for any new furniture and accessories you buy as a lot of extensions are surrounded by greenery. Adding some leafy plants to the interior will also give it an outdoorsy feel.
