How To Heat Your Conservatory Effectively In Winter
The cold weather will keep hundreds of North East householders out of their old conservatories over the next few months as the poor insulation they offer enables the weather to get in easily. Would you want to spend your time in a conservatory that leaves you shivering in winter and then sweltering in summer? We can guess the answer!
It seems a huge waste of space as you can have so much festive fun in a conservatory. You could put up the Christmas tree in there and all congregate in the conservatory come Christmas morning to see what everyone has received from Santa.
Such Christmas dreams can come true though for those currently staring at a conservatory-free Christmas when measures are taken to improve thermal efficiency. Pennine has picked out three possibilities:
Out with the old and in with the new – replace your roof
Old glass and polycarbonate roofs don’t provide anywhere near the standard of thermal performance delivered by a modern solid tiled roof covering and you can easily upgrade to this type of roof.
You do need to be certain that you have Buildings Regulations Approval first and once you are, a solid roof can be styled to seamlessly sit on top of the structure once the existing roof has been removed.
Heat loss will be halted and the weather will no longer have a passage through the covering to hit the interior. We fit our replacement roofs in no time at all and can offer several varieties of solid roof.
Cover your windows with conservatory blinds
It’s not just your old roof that’s to blame for the cold killing off your conservatory usage. The windows may also be allowing the elements to have an adverse effect on its internal feel.
Putting up some blinds could make a difference and your best bet is to opt for thermal blinds as they provide high thermal insulation and will effectively regulate the temperature inside.
Draw them shut as soon as it starts to go dark and benefit from additional privacy at night at the same time.
Cover your flooring with rugs
There will be occasions, most likely first thing in the morning, when you walk into your conservatory with nothing on your feet and when you have tiled flooring they can get very cold.
Aside from putting a pair of socks on, you should also put down some thick rugs on the floor to give you warmth underfoot.
You could complement the rugs by putting throws on your conservatory furniture so that you can get underneath them and get super snug.
Our Projects Gallery features a number of solid roof installations that Pennine has completed if it’s a route you want to take to create a far cosier conservatory.
