Pennine’s Guide To Buying New Replacement Windows

No house can be considered complete without a set of windows. Their importance cannot be emphasised enough, for a number of reasons.

They’re a big influence of the appearance of a property and its overall kerb appeal, and they help shield us from the elements when we’re in our living space. Windows also provide protection from intrusion, or at least they should, and it’s impossible to have an external view in certain rooms without them.  Are your existing windows doing a good job of fulfilling all of these roles? If you don’t think they are, replacement windows need to be acquired.

Here’s our window buying advice:

Window style

New windows should make your home prettier to outside eyes. Style-wise, it’s sensible to choose windows that complement its original character and aren’t too flamboyant.

Our window range includes all of the most famous window styles, such as casement windows (classically designed), bay and bow windows (often used in period homes) and tilt and turn windows (so easy to clean).

Have a look at what window styles other homes have in your neighbourhood as a source of inspiration and ensure they’re functional enough for you.

Window material

Which material would you like your windows to be built from? Our windows are crafted using UPVC and aluminium, both of which have impressive insulating qualities.

The cost of UPVC windows is surprisingly low, and they’re also very low maintenance, with no need for any repainting or repair at any point in their lifespan.

An aluminium window is largely made up of glass because of the very trim framework it has. Its coloured effect is eye-catching too as it is powder-coated.

Window installer

Who are you best choosing for new windows, and how can you be sure that your chosen installer will provide quality fitting?

Start by going online and doing a search for installers who fit in your area, reading any reviews that have been submitted about them by previous customers. If someone you know has also had new windows, ask them who they used and if they recommend them.

Look out for installers with accreditations. Pennine is a member of the GGF and FENSA, so we rank amongst the industry’s best installers.
