Mrs Geall's
Eclipse Aluminium Windows & Solid Roof Extension
A modern, understated update to a beautiful 1930s family home.
Slimframe aluminium windows provided the perfect solution to Mrs Geall’s old, leaking lead counterparts for a warmer, quieter home.
The Geall’s family home was designed and built in 1930 by an architect and still maintains its original appearance. The old windows were always a problem for the family – being made of lead they were very difficult to clean and had begun to leak over time. The windows were also mullioned which Mrs Geall thought might present a problem.

On replacing the windows, Mrs Geall wanted maximum light which is why she chose the Eclipse aluminium collection. The super-slim outer frame maximises glazing for an uninterrupted view. Aluminium also had the added benefit of being maintenance free, draft free and easy to clean, which would mean she would no longer need to pay out bills for maintenance year after year.
She also wanted a year-round extension to the rear of her home which would serve as a studio for her hobby painting watercolours. Pennine helped Mrs Geall choose a tiled roof extension for warmth, but still including plenty of glazing for a beautiful view of the garden.

Mrs Geall has noticed that the house is much quieter since replacing the windows and has eliminated a lot of the noise. She is able to open and shut the windows now – she was always afraid the old lead windows would fall out! The property is now more comfortable and cheaper to heat. Pennine came back to check everything was ok a year which she felt was a really nice touch.
